I am a parent of a student in 2nd grade at Melrose Leadership Academy in District 5. I encourage you to pass this resolution as originally written by Director Hutchinson, without adding watered-down amendments, to provide free, on-site weekly COVID testing at every school site. OUSD has already received $300 million from the state of California in COVID relief funds and we should use that funding to ensure that all students and staff at every school site have access to free, weekly COVID testing.

As a parent of a child who is not yet eligible for the vaccine, regular testing at schools is the best tool we have at our disposal to protect our children. We live in a multigenerational home. We take the health of everyone seriously and want to protect others, while they protect us.

Educators need time to focus on their classrooms, not to oversee COVID tests!

Reactive testing is not sufficient. Every school site in Oakland deserves regular weekly onsite testing not staffed by OUSD educators. School should have sites access to Primary, so that they can run testing more efficiently.

As an epidemiologist and researcher focused on COVID, I've studied first hand the impacts and preventative measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. At this stage of the pandemic, regularly mandated testing remains the most important missing component to effectively identifying, managing and limiting transmission in our schools. This needs to be done regularly for all students and staff with clear guidance on how to proceed based on various outcomes.

We need to prioritize the health of our students, educators and school staff members with weekly mandated COVID testing at all OUSD schools.

COVID testing at all school sites weekly by a healthcare contractor from outside OUSD. Let teachers and administrators do their jobs and get healthcare and public health workers in to help support the health and safety of our students.

Requiring COVID-19 testing at all school sites is imperative at this point- our educators and students are missing out on precious lesson prep and learning time due to reactive testing and sudden quarantines. Please make COVID-19 testing mandatory at all school sites.

We need frequent testing to ensure the success of all of the systems and practices that have been put into place to keep our kids safe at school.

Staff cannot be leading the charge on the oversight of COVID testing.

Testing is crucial to keep our schools safe and operational. It will help to contain the spread of Covid and keep our kids learning and building emotionally sound connections with peers and educators. Please instate weekly testing on school sites for all students, this is the way we get through this together!!

We need testing available at schools on site at least once per week.

We need testing available on site every week. Reactive requests are insufficient at this moment in time and school staff should be focusing on education, instead of coordinating students COVID tests.

The way testing at schools is going now is based on exposure and is very confusing and disorganized. Each school should have testing done so that ALL students and staff can be tested weekly. This is the bare minimum that should be happening to keep everyone safe.

Please please please pass this. We definitely need on-site testing at LEAST once a week at schools!

Reactive covid testing is not sufficient for our community. Every school site in Oakland deserves regular weekly onsite testing not staffed by OUSD educators as we need our teachers to teach our children. If the district continues to use Primary, a highly frustrating and non inclusive test consent tool, please at least make it available to school site administrators so that they are able to proactively register families and make testing as efficient as possible.

Every school in Oakland needs this twice weekly testing.
Covid is more and more dangerous for our children and families.

Testing is key to keeping kids and staff safe and in school. The testing thus far has not gone well and is not easily accessible. We need on site testing every week.

I am a teacher in a district 1 school and have seen firsthand the need for more testing across our school sites. If we want to continue serving students in-person safely, testing should be available at every OUSD campus. I urge you to pass this resolutions with no amendments.
