I am writing to express opposition to any attempts or proposals for cutting positions of OUSD staff. I stand in solidarity with the People's Budget developed by the Black Organizing Project through community listening sessions. Cutting positions like the Coordinator of safety and proposals to cut contracts with organizations like Savin Shorties is unacceptable. The community has made it clear that funding needs to be diverted to expand the amount of staff needed to carry out critical roles serving our children. If anything should be cut it should be salaries in the district office.
