This resolution is not the solution and will cause more harm. The OUSD Board must demand that Yu Ming stop their expansion. Stop the harm of school closures and charter expansion in all districts including Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, and San Lorenzo.
This is incredibly offensive, and whiny. We should be standing in solidarity with our neighboring communities rather than trying to throw them under the bus by forcing a charter school that has little or nothing to do with their own community on them. More importantly, you seem suddenly very afraid about losing students - unlike the students you will inevitably lose as a result of school closure. It seems that when you are talking about losing affluent white and Asian parents to Yu Ming you panic, but when you are losing 15 to 20% of the Black and Brown families in schools you are closing that you are chill. Shame on you for showing your racism. Oh, and the third option seems like a pretty serious violation of Prop 39. If I were Yu Ming, I would sue you.
