Please lift the outdoor mask mandate for OUSD students. Most other CA districts (Berkeley, Piedmont, SF, LA, SD) have already done so and now that vaccinated adults don't even need to wear masks indoors, it seems only fair to allow our kids to remove masks while playing outside. They've already missed out on so much over these last 2 years. This small step would make a huge difference for my 5 and 7 year old who rarely get to see their friends' and teachers' smiles. It's time.

Please lift (rescind) the outdoor mask mandate for our kids. Most California school districts have lifted their outdoor mask mandates, including big ones similar to ours like Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Berkeley. *There is no health reason to wear masks outdoors.* The CDC and California have even lifted the indoor mask mandate, which means it should be a slam dunk that kids don't need to wear them outdoors. This is important for our kids to breathe fresh air, see their friends & teachers smiling faces, and improve their mental health.

Let's continue to follow the science and health recommendations of public health officials and remove our masks outside. It's safe to do so and it's the right thing to do. Thank you!!!

It is time to lift the outdoor mask mandate for our children. We are entering the endemic stage of this pandemic. I want my daughter to be able to see her friends smiles. I don’t enjoy socializing with a mask on, why should our kids be ok with it?

OUSD is now the sole remaining district to require students to wear masks outdoors despite it conferring no meaningful health benefit.
SF, SD, LA have unmasked the kids outdoors. While adults go maskless in indoor settings throughout the Bay Area, children (many vaccinated) are being forced to wear a mask for 7+ hours a day, despite being at lowest risk of contracting or transmitting Covid.
Pls allow our kids to remove their masks while outdoors to breathe fresh air and see smiles and faces.

LA, SD and SF all do NOT require masks outdoors for their students. There is no data/science to support outdoor masking. Students are not required to mask when participating in any outdoor sports in Alameda county and neither CDPH nor ACDPH require masks outdoors. Please come in line with county, state and other large districts and drop the outdoor mask mandate TODAY!

Please ask yourself, would you be able to run 1-2 miles with an n95 mask on? That is what my middle schooler is being asked to do on a weekly basis. Let’s be reasonable & allow our children to go mask-free outside.
