I am writing to oppose the minimester system. It is causing a significant disruption in subjects like math, foreign language and band, and should be replaced with the standard semester system we had before that allows for continuity of instruction. This is NOT working for my kids and for the majority of the teachers, either. Between the paltry instructional minutes and the minimesters, OUSD has lost a lot of great families who have moved to a different district or have decided to go to private school this fall as they are so tired of their kids getting a suboptimal education. Please don't do further damage. Switch back to what works and has been researched; do not experiment with our kids' learning during this time. Thank you.
