Climate change is one of the most important issues that we face today. In order for real change to happen, we need to educate young people so they care about the issue and know the extent of the issue. We need to act quickly because this problem isn't going away and students are the ones who will be able to change things.

I strongly believe that education on climate change and the environment is necessary for students. OUSD should make the environment part of the curriculum so that students become aware of the environmental impact of our actions; consequentially, they will join the efforts in mitigating climate change, making the world and everything on it healthier and happier.

As a student at Oakland Tech, I believe that for all students to become climate change literate is incredibly important. This generation is pivotal in the mitigating of climate change. If we continue to ignore climate change's presence, then the problem will only become worse until we reach a point of no return. Understanding climate change is the first step in working to mitigate it. You have the power to choose how Oakland students are educated so this change is influential and significant.
